Vietnamese man wins businessman award   2008-01-05 - VNS

Nguyen Minh Tri was voted Asia's top outstanding businessman by the famed Business Week magazine, the first time a Vietnamese person has won the award.


HA NOI — Nguyen Minh Tri was voted Asia’s top outstanding businessman by the famed Business Week magazine, the first time a Vietnamese person has won the award.

Tri founded Myworld website, which allows Vietnamese learners of English to share knowledge via blogs, pictures, music and other content. He ranked top among the 25 shortlisted candidates.

Only 25, he is already the general director of Viet Tech, which specialises in on-line and high-tech services.

First e-shopping website opens in Viet Nam

HA NOI — Customers of www.chodientu.vn (an on-line shopping website) starting this month can pay by international credit or debit card, including VISA, Mastercard, JCB, AMEX, or Diners.

According to an official of the website administration, www.chodientu.vn is the first e-commerce website in Viet Nam with certified security and recommended by VISA and Mastercard.

For Tet (lunar new year) the website has launched an on-line shopping festival with various promotions active as of January 1, 2008.

$100,000 cell phones added to luxury goods

HA NOI — FPT Corporation said it has imported two Vertu mobile phones from the UK worth US$100,000 each.

The two phones have covers made of gold. One has 943 diamonds encrusted on the keyboard while the other has 923 diamonds on its body.

With Viet Nam’s vigorous economic growth in recent years, mobile phones were no longer a rarity and were used by people from all walks of life, the country’s largest mobile retailer said.

Epson unveils new home and work printers

HA NOI — Epson announced the launch of the EPSON Stylus™ C110, CX7300, CX8300, targeting home and office users.

The Japanese-based digital imaging maker said the new printer will help users have faster print speed and crisper blacker text quality.

With a print speed of 32ppm (pages per minute), the EPSON Stylus™ CX7300 AIO and CX8300 AIO are some of the fastest general purpose AIOs available. The EPSON Stylus™ C110’s speed for black text print is 25 ppm. The new AIOs are also lauded as having equally excellent copying and scanning abilities.
