Viet Nam buys 1.4 million computers in 2007   2008-03-23 - VNS

The market research company IDC announced that Viet Nam's client PC market grew 41 per cent to 1.4 million computers in 2007.

HCM City — The market research company IDC announced that Viet Nam’s client PC market grew 41 per cent to 1.4 million computers in 2007.

Notebooks were one of the hottest segments, posting 219 per cent growth.

For the full year, Hewlett-Packard remained the leader, followed by Acer, both of which recorded strong growth thanks to channel programs, promotional bundles, and loan support.

In third place, Lenovo showed a much stronger year-on-year unit growth rate of 174 per cent compared to HP’s 155 per cent and Acer’s 154 per cent.

The company also expects its growth to rise by 30 per cent this year, but says that currency appreciation and inflation may cut into that.

Canon brings latest digital SLR camera into country

HA NOI — Canon recently announced that it plans to launch the 12.2 megapixel EOS 450D cameras in Viet Nam, the newest digital SLR in the market.

The model, an upgrade of Canon’s entry-level range of DSLR cameras, was designed for amateur and professional photographers, Canon said.

With DIGIC III imaging processor technology, the EOS 450D provides low noise images with natural colour production, while its 12.2 megapixels enable printing on up to A3 paper size.

The company, which produces bubble jet printers in Ha Noi, said it has five distributors and nearly 300 authorised service partners in Viet Nam.

Acer makes a laptop specially geared for gamers

HA NOI — Acer has introduced the Acer Aspire 4520G-401G16Mi, its newest laptop designed for gamers with AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology.

The 14.1-inch widescreen laptop, featured with 512MB TurboCache™ NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M, promises improved display and smoother image processing, according to DigiWorld, Acer’s distributor in Viet Nam.

Meanwhile, AcerSignalUp technology has improved the wi-fi transmission speed by 25 per cent, reducing mid-game disconnects, the HCM-City headquartered distributor said.

Epson introduces the newest in photo printing

HA NOI — Epson, a world leader in digital imaging, announced the launch of the EPSON Stylus™ Photo R1900 printer.

The new eight-ink A3+ photo printer is equipped with a new ink set and improved image processing technology to improve the quality of prints.

In addition to the standard cyan, magenta and yellow colours, the inks have options for matte black, photo black, red, orange and a gloss optimiser as well.

The improved gloss optimiser helps produce a smoother and glossier finish over highlights, which usually have no ink layer, leading to a silky and high gloss finish from edge to edge.
