During the opening ceremony yesterday, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien said the exhibition aimed to support businesses, stimulate demand during the economic downturn and facilitate trade exchanges and business co-operation. The presence of the leading car makers showed the demand, appeal and potential of the Vietnamese market, Bien said. Viet Nam was a potential market for the industry, said Laurent Genet, a representative of Germany's Audi and also general director of the Asian Auto Co Ltd. The company planned to sell suitable high-end cars in Viet Nam. It had a showroom in HCM City and planned to open a second in Ha Noi in September, he said. To remove difficulties and ensure sustainable development for the Vietnamese auto industry, an international conference will be held today as part of the expo. |
