Another Cham tower found in south-central Vietnam   2010-03-13 - Thanh Nien

The Binh Thuan Province Museum has announced archaeologists have discovered a Cham tower in Bac Binh District believed to have been built in the ninth century.

Nguyen Xuan Ly, director of the museum, said the area was a revolutionary base during the Vietnam War.

Experts who have taken measurements of the new-found tower said its foundation was undamaged.

The remaining main tower stands about four meters tall. Its length, north-south, measures about 14 meters; its width, east-west, is about nine meters.

The main door of the tower faces the south, just like the PoDam Cham tower in the province’s Tuy Phong District.

According to the experts, the architectural style of this tower is similar to that of the well-known PoSah Inu Cham tower in Phan Thiet.

Binh Thuan Province Museum found another Cham tower in Ham Thuan Bac District last year. Experts said they thought it had been built in the 11th century.
