PM Dung called on the business delegation, led by the Governor, to explore investment opportunities in Viet Nam, especially within the central province of Ninh Thuan.

He expressed his pleasure at the development of the equally beneficial Viet Nam-US friendship and co-operation across various fields.

Viet Nam committed itself to working alongside the US in deepening their bilateral relations for the purposes of peace and development in the region as well as in the world at large, Dung said.

He hoped that the two countries would be able to increase two-way trade, which currently stood at only US$15 billion.

Dung thanked the US Government and Maryland leaders for their assistance to the Vietnamese community in the US.

For his part, Martin O'Malley affirmed that his state would make all efforts to foster co-operation between the two countries with particular regard to trade, investment, science and technology, education and training.

O'Malley thanked the Vietnamese Government for its co-operation with and support for the US in searching for missing in action servicemen.

During his visit to Vietnam, the Maryland Governor worked with Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Bui Quang Vinh, witnessing the signing of five co-operative business agreements based on health and environmental development.

O'Malley signed an additional memorandum on co-operation between Maryland State and Vietnam's central province of Ninh Thuan in increasing mutual understanding, promoting trade and business ties.
